Has the machinery stopped an unexpected breakdown? Often problems with the rotation of the drum occur when the bearings wear or a foreign object enters. Both the first and second cases may require disassembly of the unit. Do you want to cope with the repair yourself? Then you need to know how to remove the drum from the Indesit washing machine.
Repair SMA "Indesit": preparatory work
Before changing the drum bearing or performing other work related to disassembling the tank, you will have to completely disassemble the machine. Therefore, free up space in advance for such a large-scale work. This is best done in a garage or other non-residential premises. In an extreme case, the kitchen is also suitable, just keep in mind that the equipment needs to be advanced to the center of the room so that it is convenient to get to any panel.
You will also need these tools:
- a set of slotted and Phillips screwdrivers;
- socket wrenches;
- a hammer;
- pliers;
- hexagon;
- drill;
- hacksaw for metal.
Additionally prepare sealant glue, rags and water containers. Although the washer is disconnected from the water supply, water remains in the hoses and pipes. Do not rush to buy parts for replacement in advance, it is better to get the old items and go with them to the store. So you definitely will not lose with the choice.
Proceed to the next step.
How to disassemble an Indesit washer?
Start with these steps:
- Disconnect the machine from power.
- Close the inlet valve.
- Substitute the container and disconnect the hoses leading to the washer body.
Now you need to drain the remaining water so that when disassembling it does not get on electronic parts. On the Indesit washing machine, the drain filter is hidden behind a long basement panel. It is located under the loading hatch. Do this:
- Press the panel latch (use a flat screwdriver).
- Substitute the container.
- Unscrew the filter plug.
- Wait for the water to drain (clean the filter at the same time).
Also, water may be on the electronic board, spilling from the dispensing tray. Remove it by pressing the latch in the center. Now you can safely flip the case over and replace broken parts.
Place an old blanket to prevent damage to the floor covering and SMA housing. Pull the car into the center of the room. Here's how to do it yourself
- Remove the top cover of the washer by unscrewing the fixing screws from the back (move it a little back and remove it).
- Unscrew the bolts around the perimeter, remove the back wall.
- Here is the back of the tank. If rusty streaks are visible from the central part, this indicates bearing wear.
- Alternately turning the pulley, remove the drive belt.
- Now you need to remove everything that is attached to the tank. First, disconnect the wiring. It is often fixed with plastic clamps, which can be opened or cut (later replaced with new ones).
How to unscrew the heater TEN? To get a heating element (conclusions under a tank), immediately photograph its connection. Then:
- Disconnect the wiring.
- Tighten the center nut (not fully).
- Push the bolt inward.
- Pry up the heater with a screwdriver and remove it from the socket.
Subsequently, the sealing gum of the heater must be replaced, otherwise a leak may occur. Fine, then remove the motor. You can skip this step, you can actually get the tank with the engine fixed below. But! Firstly, the motor is heavy enough, which will create difficulties during dismantling. Secondly, it can be damaged inadvertently. Why do you need an engine replacement? It is better to immediately remove the unit, acting as follows:
- Disconnect the engine wiring.
- Turn off fixing bolts.
- Swinging the motor back and forth, remove it from the housing.
Look under the top cover of the washing machine. The device device provides a counterweight. This stone restrains tank vibrations during fast rotation. The counterweight must be removed:
- Using a hex wrench, unscrew the bolts.
- Remove the counterweight.
Next, everything that is mounted on top is turned off. To remove the drum in the Indesit washing machine, continue disassembling:
- Disconnect the wires from the level sensor (pressure switch). It is located near the side wall and resembles a tablet in shape.
- Then unscrew the fixing screw and disconnect the hoses.
- Remove the hoses leading to the hopper (powder receptacle), to do this, unclench their clamps. Remove the item from the housing.
With the top finished. Put the AGR on its side and remove the bottom (if any). To do this, unscrew the bolts. If the Aquastop sensor is attached to the bottom, then disconnect its wiring. Take a peek inside:
- Unscrew fixing bolts of the drain filter.
- Disconnect the pump wires.
- Using pliers, unfasten collars and remove a branch pipe and a drain hose.
- Remove the pump along with the snail.
- Remove the shock absorber bolts (one part is attached to the tank, the other to the body).
Return the machine to its original position. Open the hatch door. Remove the two UBL (electronic lock) bolts and disconnect its wiring. Insert the cuff into the drum. When dismantling, the control panel may interfere, so it is better to remove it. For this:
- Remove the mounting bolts around the perimeter.
- Release the latch.
- Leave the panel hanging on the wires if you do not want to reconnect.
Now nothing prevents further work, so a broken element can be replaced. But only after the last step.
How to get a drum in SMA Indesit?
Now the tank is left hanging on two springs. Lift the element upwards, removing it from the springs and pulling it out of the housing.
Further on how to change the drum or bearing. In the Indesit machines, the tanks are non-separable. If in the washers of other manufacturers two parts are pulled together with bolts, then here they represent a single whole. A hacksaw for metal is useful for work.
Start by removing the pulley. Secure it with a strap to prevent rotation. Using a wrench, unscrew the central bolt and remove the pulley. Next, install the assembly edge. Find the weld. Schedule locations for future fixtures in advance. Drill holes with a drill.
Proceed to sawing:
- Gently cut the tank into two.
- Remove one half and remove the drum from the other.
Replace the items and proceed with the assembly. With the drum in place, connect the two halves. Lubricate joints with adhesive sealant. This will prevent leakage and strengthen the connection. Fasten the parts with screws in the holes made.
Now you can assemble the equipment in the reverse order. Photos during the repair process will help you with this, especially where the wiring is connected. After assembly, connect the washer to the communications and start the test wash. It is important that the assembly joints withstand the load at high speeds and prevent leakage.
The video will help you understand the intricacies of repair:
Such repairs from the master will be expensive, because the process is time-consuming. Therefore, if you wish, you can completely do it yourself. It is important to do everything correctly in order to eliminate the breakdown and use the equipment for at least another five years.
