Noticed a spill in the dishwasher? There is an endless collection of water, but the drain does not work? What is the problem?
There may be several reasons for this malfunction. Over time, parts and assemblies wear out and fail. We’ll show you what you need to check to resolve the problem.
How to fix a water overflow in a dishwasher
What to do if the dishwasher "Electrolux", "Ariston" pours water? First, find out the reason. Sometimes a self-diagnosis system is triggered and a fault code is displayed. The water level in the dishwasher is constantly increasing, which leads to leakage.
If the Aquastop protection has worked, start inspecting and checking the machine.
What details need to be checked, how to fix a breakdown?
Water level sensor
Each program consumes a different amount of water. Upon reaching the desired level, the sensor is triggered and sends a signal to the main module, which stops the fence. In this way, the pressure switch controls the water level in the hopper.
If the pressure switch fails or gives incorrect readings, the board does not receive the necessary information. For example, a level switch sends a signal that the chamber has a low water level. Therefore, the system will endlessly pick it up.
Overfilling can be dangerous if the electronic components of the dishwasher are damaged. As soon as you notice a problem, immediately disconnect the equipment from the network.
You can check the overflow sensor yourself. In Bosch, Electrolux models, it is located below, near the circulation pump. In other brands - Zanussi, Indesit, Veko - it may be in another place, this can be found in the instructions.
Here is an example of a sensor test on Bosch models:
- Disconnect the machine from the network and communications.
- Remove all baskets from the camera.
- Turn the equipment over to the back wall.
- Remove the lower pan by unscrewing the fastening screws.
- Near the pump assembly you will see a plastic box. Hoses lead to it.
- The electronic part of the presostat is checked with a multimeter.
- You can find out if the mechanical part is working by blowing into the tube of the device. Do you hear clicks? So the part is in order. If not, replace.
Intake valve
The valve serves to supply water to the chamber. When the pressure switch sends a signal to the module that the level in the tank is normal, the board sends a pulse to the valve and its membrane closes. The cause of the breakdown is a malfunction with the mechanical part or with the electronics.
There is an element in the lower part of the PMM case. Turn off the power to the machine and attach the probes of the multimeter to its contacts. If the resistance is not correct, replace the valve. To diagnose the mechanical part, the operating voltage is applied and it is checked whether the membrane opens or not.
Replacing is simple:
- disconnect the wiring;
- unscrew a bolt of fastening;
- install a new item;
- make sure that the markings exactly match your model.
Incorrect installation
Incorrect hose connections can also lead to overfilling. Read the operating instructions carefully. How to connect the dishwasher, read the article.
Experts ask not to forget the rules for using the equipment:
- Do not connect the dishwasher through tees or carrying.
- Do not overload baskets with dishes.
- Use only special detergents, not forgetting the salt and rinse aid.
- After the cycle, clean the filters. Leave the door open until the camera dries, wipe the seal.
- Unplug the equipment during a long absence.
